1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the current public pages on SinsAuthor.ca operated by B.A. Sins / SinsAuthors Universe™. Separate services, subdomains, forums, stores, platforms, or future applications may have additional privacy terms where their functions require them.

SinsAuthor aims to collect only information reasonably needed for a stated purpose and to explain those practices clearly.

2. Information the current site uses

Information you choose to send: if you contact B.A. Sins by email or through an external platform, the information you provide may be received and used to answer your message, maintain correspondence, or handle the request.

Basic technical records: like most websites, the hosting and security infrastructure may generate standard server records such as IP address, browser/user-agent information, requested URL, date/time, response status, and similar diagnostic data. These records may be used for security, abuse prevention, troubleshooting, and reliable operation.

No direct payment information: the current site does not collect or process payment-card details. Purchases and memberships are completed through third-party services.

3. Browser storage, age gate, and site events

The current site uses browser storage for limited on-device functions rather than for behavioural advertising:

• After Dark age gate: a simple “18 or older” confirmation is stored in sessionStorage for the current browser session. It does not store your date of birth or identity.
• Hidden site events: event progress can be stored in sessionStorage or localStorage, depending on the event configuration. The current Hidden Pumpkin Hunt uses session storage.

The current main site does not intentionally set advertising cookies or use third-party behavioural analytics. Browser storage can be cleared through your browser settings. Clearing it may reset age-gate approval or event progress.

4. Third-party services and external links

SinsAuthor.ca links to services including Patreon, Books2Read, Amazon, YouTube, Facebook, Stage 32, X, and potentially Steam or crowdfunding platforms. When you follow one of those links, that service may collect information under its own privacy policy and may use cookies or other technologies independently of SinsAuthor.ca.

SinsAuthor.ca does not receive your complete payment-card information from those external checkout services. Information a third party shares with creators—for example a supporter name, membership status, purchase information, or message—is handled according to the purpose for which it was provided and the applicable platform settings.

5. Why information may be used or disclosed

Information under SinsAuthor’s control may be used to operate and secure the website, respond to messages, provide requested content or support, maintain records related to a transaction or membership when supplied by a platform, investigate abuse, comply with legal obligations, and improve site reliability.

Personal information is not sold or rented to advertisers. It may be disclosed to service providers that support hosting, communications, distribution, payment, or platform functions; when you direct or consent to the disclosure; or when disclosure is required or permitted by law.

6. Retention and safeguards

Session-storage values generally remain only for the browser session. Local-storage values remain on the device until cleared or replaced. Server/security logs and direct correspondence are kept only as long as reasonably needed for operational, security, legal, or record-keeping purposes.

Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are used for information under SinsAuthor’s control. No internet service or electronic storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

7. Adults-only content and younger visitors

The general-audience portions of the site may be browsed without creating an account. The After Dark area is intended for adults and is gated with an 18+ confirmation. SinsAuthor does not knowingly use the adult section to solicit personal information from minors.

8. Your choices and privacy requests

You can disable or clear browser storage through your browser controls. You may also request information about personal information held by SinsAuthor, ask for correction where appropriate, or raise a privacy concern by using the contact address below.

If a future SinsAuthor newsletter or other commercial email program is introduced, promotional messages will use consent and unsubscribe practices appropriate to Canada’s anti-spam requirements.

9. Changes and contact

This policy will be updated when the website begins collecting new categories of personal information or adds features such as accounts, direct checkout, forms, newsletters, analytics, community functions, or other services that materially change current privacy practices.
